When an entire rack needs to be retired, DCTechWork can manage the physical decommissioning process from connection verification through final rack cleanup.
A typical rack decommissioning project can involve the following stages.
- 01
Verification
Equipment, connections and rack positions are checked against the provided decommissioning plan.
- 02
Cable identification
Power, copper and fiber connections scheduled for removal are identified and, where necessary, traced.
- 03
Disconnection
Approved connections are systematically disconnected.
- 04
Hardware removal
Servers, switches, storage devices and other equipment are safely removed from the rack.
- 05
Cable removal
Unused copper, fiber and power cabling can be removed and organized.
- 06
Asset handling
Removed hardware can be labeled, inventoried and prepared for transportation, storage or disposal according to customer requirements.
- 07
Final inspection
The rack and surrounding work area are inspected and left clean and organized.
